Regenerative thermal oxidizer technology

Regenerative thermal oxidizer technology is not new, but we are seeing them a lot more frequently in the relevant industries, particularly in paper milling, coal mining, ethanol production, and even food production. Regenerative thermal oxidation works by using a ceramic heat sink to absorb thermal energy from exhaust gas. This thermal energy is then used to heat exhaust gas from earlier in the exhaust processes to extremely high temperature and destroy pollutants. Because it is using heat reclaimed from its own processes at high efficiency, it is an extremely energy-efficient system that doesn’t require a lot of additional energy overhead from elsewhere. This has made it very popular among those with industrial-scale considerations for their exhaust gas processes, but it has also caught on for a few other reasons.

While the primary reason for its popularity increase is a matter of effectiveness, there are two other factors that are seeing regenerative thermal oxidizers through: decreasing cost and legal mandate. Regenerative thermal oxidizers from and similar suppliers over the internet have made it much more affordable to install these systems. They once required much more in the way of specialized construction, and there weren’t the same standards in place for necessities. The second factor is the law. Many countries, particularly in the European Union and most notably in Germany have come to require regenerative thermal oxidization to strip harmful chemicals from exhaust gas. Regenerative thermal oxidation is an excellent example of the ways in which technology is improving to keep our air clean.
